Erling Haaland is predicted to become the first football player to earn £1 billion.

Rafaela Pimenta, the agent of the Manchester City star, claims her client could generate income beyond the standard contract.

At 23, Haaland is estimated to pocket a massive £865,000 per week at Manchester City. This figure includes weekly wages, as well as substantial bonuses earned through goal-scoring achievements and titles.

However, Pimenta believes this is just the beginning of Haaland’s potential income. She asserts that Haaland could become the first football player to earn £1 billion through image rights.

Haaland is a brand ambassador for Samsung Norway.

Pimenta told The Guardian: “I’m not saying transfer fees will reach that level. I’m talking about the entirety of the money you generate throughout your career. Nowadays, you can play football until you’re 35. You have to think about salary, transfer fees, broadcasting income, sponsorship money, ticket sales, shirt sales. For a player like Erling, that figure goes up to a billion pounds.

Revenue in the gaming industry is enormous. In the metaverse, I can sell Erling Haaland digitally for €2,000 (£1,741) to 100 million people in India, China, Brazil, and Mexico. Perhaps someday, we will have a moment to experience a football match through glasses, which will evoke emotions as if I were there.

You enjoy a 3D experience with virtual reality. So, we may sell the football experience, not just to television stations but also to individuals who cannot afford or buy tickets to the Bernabeu or Etihad. They can experience the match (in the metaverse) as if they were on the field. So, when talking about the £1 billion figure, I’m using multipliers beyond what is happening in reality.”
