With 22 goals, striker Akor Adams, playing for Montpellier in Ligue 1, is leading the race for the European Golden Shoe with a 10.5-point gap over Erling Haaland.

On the season’s overall standings until November 13, the organizers have recorded Adams’ 22 goals. This achievement includes 15 goals for his former club Lillestrom (Norway), and seven goals for Montpellier (France). With a coefficient of 1.5 points per goal in the Norwegian championship and 2 points per goal in Ligue 1, the 23-year-old Nigerian striker currently has 36.5 points, leading the Golden Shoe race.

In August, Adams joined Montpellier for a five million USD transfer fee.

Adams celebrates a goal in Montpellier’s 3-0 victory over Toulouse in the 10th round of Ligue 1 on October 29 at the De La Mosson Stadium.

The second-ranked player, Amahl Pellegrino, is also playing in Norway. The 33-year-old forward has scored 23 goals for Bodo Glimt and earned 34.5 points.

Harry Kane is in third place with 17 goals in the Bundesliga, accumulating 34 points. Another Bundesliga striker, Serhou Guirassy, playing for Stuttgart, is in fourth place with 15 goals and 30 points. Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe (PSG) and Haaland (Man City) are tied for fifth place with 13 goals each. With 26 points, they are trailing Adams by 10.5 points, and both players need to score six more goals to surpass him.

Last season, Haaland won the Golden Shoe with 72 points. In contrast, Kane finished second with 60 points, and Mbappe finished third with 58 points. It was Haaland’s first Golden Shoe win, while Kane and Mbappe have not yet won.

Lionel Messi holds the record for the most Golden Shoes, winning it six times in 2009-2010, 2011-2012, 2012-2013, 2016-2017, 2017-2018, and 2018-2019. Cristiano Ronaldo is in second place with four wins in 2007-2008, 2010-2011, 2013-2014 (shared with Luis Suarez), and 2014-2015.

Eusebio, Gerd Muller, Dudu Georgescu, Fernando Gomes, Ally McCoist, Mario Jardel, Thierry Henry, Diego Forland, Luis Suarez, and Robert Lewandowski are tied for third place with two wins each.

The European Golden Shoe takes into account goals scored in European national leagues. According to the UEFA coefficient table, top leagues like the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 are awarded 2 points per goal. Mid-tier leagues receive 1.5 points per goal, while other leagues get 1 point.
